Fieldnote was built inside Data Druid Tech Services — a small Nigerian firm that builds digital systems for governance, health, and development organisations. It exists because we kept hitting the same wall, and we got tired.
Because the stack was always broken — and we kept paying the bill.
Every research engagement looked the same. Kobo or ODK for quantitative data. Otter or a phone recorder for interviews. NVivo or Excel for analysis. Dropbox or Drive holding it together with goodwill. By the time the report was due, half the team's effort had gone into reconciling tools.

Free tiers attract noise; paid signup attracts the right customers. We charge transparently so we never have to sell your attention or your data.
Calm over loud
Researchers stare at this for hours. The product is restrained — no animations that don't serve a state change, no decoration for decoration's sake.
AI assists, humans decide
Margin proposes; you confirm. Every claim cites the response it came from. We will never train a public model on your data.
The data is sacred
Append-only response log, full audit trail, configurable retention, optional BYO-database. Your data is the work — we treat it that way.
Field-ready
If it doesn't survive a three-day deployment with no signal on a five-inch screen in direct sunlight, we don't ship it. Offline is the default, not a feature.
Open about what we are
