The agreement
Fieldnote is a paid research-data platform operated by Data Druid Tech Services Limited. By creating a workspace you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself or the organisation you represent.
Your data, your responsibility
The workspace owns the research data it collects. You are responsible for having the consent and approvals your study requires — ethics-board clearance, respondent consent, and any sector rules that apply to the data you gather. Fieldnote gives you the tools (PII flags, versioned instruments, an activity log) but cannot grant the permissions for you.
Acceptable use
Use Fieldnote for lawful research and data collection. Do not use it to collect data for harassment, surveillance of private individuals without consent, or any unlawful purpose. We may suspend workspaces that do.
Billing
Plans are billed monthly or annually, in advance. The demo workspace created at signup is for evaluation; collecting production data requires a paid plan. Plan changes are prorated — up-tier immediately, down-tier at the next cycle.
Service
We aim for high availability but do not promise uninterrupted service. We keep routine backups and an append-only response store — submitted responses are never silently overwritten. Liability is limited to the fees you paid in the preceding 12 months.
Cancellation
Cancel anytime. Your data remains exportable for 30 days after cancellation, then it is permanently deleted.
